FMR Staff

Core Staff

Station Manager: Victoria Cawood

I served my broadcasting apprenticeship at FMR  under Leslie McKenzie for 8 years, being appointed Station Manager upon his retirement.

I eschew the microphone and prefer to perform my administrative and bureaucratic functions in the shadows.

The spotlight should be always on the wonderful FMR team (staff and volunteers) who create and broadcast the “FMR sound.”

Rodney TrudgeonProgramme Manager: Rodney Trudgeon

Waking up to his delightful and professional presentation style and thorough enjoyment that he brings to broadcasting classical music is something that Capetonians will not want to miss – the perfect start to the day.

As a name long associated with classical music broadcasting in South Africa, his radio career has spanned some 25 years and he has sought to make classical music more accessible and more entertaining to the diverse cultures that make up South Africa’s listening audience.

Victoria Cawood, station manager of Fine Music Radio, said ‘Having been able to entice Rodney onto the FMR team is a fillip for the station’.

Marketing and Sales Manager: Marne Joubert

Originally trained as a sound engineer moved into the areas of production, marketing, sales and all that is required! My broadcasting career has taken me through the SABC to Classic FM and now the wonderful FMR!

Vital statistics: Love cape town, the mountain, the sea, good food – and lots of it, reading  - everything from crime to biogs. Have 2 doggy babies and one human one of 26. Proud granny of 2. Proud supporter of WP

Reception: Pamela Atkins

I’ve been working at FMR for about 9 years.  I love listening to all kinds of music, it’s my way of escaping into my own little space.  I may not play any type of sport but really enjoy watching most kinds of sport, especially cricket, which is quite funny because I’ve attempted playing it before and ended up with a black eye. I never tried it again.  So, from answering calls and finding presenters to do shows from our glass office in the Artscape building to catching the sun while watching cricket on a weekend, that’s simply just me!

Studio Manager: Ewan Inglis

I started working at FMR as a sound engineer about 5 years ago whilst studying law at UWC as a part-time student, and would therefore like to use both these skills in the Entertainment Law arena in the future. I am also a classically trained percussionist which may explain my inability to sit still for too long. As a proud capetonian, I cannot resist a braai but I do also enjoy Thai and Japanese cuisine.

Operations Coordinator: Wesley Lewies

Originally from Johannesburg I came to Cape Town in my early 20′s for what should have been 3 months and like a lot of people who visit this city never left. Sucked into a lifestyle of mountain exploration, rock climbing and the kind of adventure that wouldn’t have been possible in my previous flat featureless home.

I started at Fine Music Radio on the first of March 2004 not knowing anything about community radio or classical music and in the last 6 years I’d like to think I’ve learned much about both, I’ve witnessed the growth of our little radio station, it ups and downs and am always amazed by our achievements, long may they continue.

Financial Officer: Carla Charron

Born to 18 year old parents my musical influences were the likes of Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin & Jon Anderson.  I’m a music lover but have to say after 10 years at FMR they have yet to convert me into a classical listener.  I’m currently studying Kinesiology and hoping to start up practice in the next two years.  Skydiving has taken up much of my attention and adrenaline in the past 2 years but after some hair-raising moments I’ve put away my chute and taken up simpler and more relaxing hobbies like yoga!
