Ampie Muller
I joined the world of radio as a radio actor whilst still a student and became so enamoured of the radio world that I decided after I completed my honours to join full time. I became a announcer/producer, as the job description read, in Johannesburg from where I was posted to Cape town. I became involved in everything that was on offer from interviews to sports commentary, from news reading to producing programs. I wanted, however, to complete my studies and left to join the CSIR whilst I did my Masters. I was fortunate enough to win a scholarship to study overseas and spent three plus years on the continent and completed my doctoral studies.
Back home I joined the academic world and eventually became professor at a number of South African universities and so doing landed back at Cape Town where I joined FMR in 1998. I started by interviewing authors and doing a classical music program . That lead to me taking over the Afrikaans book discussion program “Boekkeuse” and today I enjoy both my major interests at FMR …. books and classical music.
