Jeanie Kelly

I started my first recorder lessons when I was 8 years old, piano when I was 11 and flute when I was 13 years old. Music being my passion, I decided early on to make it my career. I received a BMus from Stellenbosch University, majoring in flute performance with Éva Tamassy after which I completed a BMus Honours in flute performance at the University of Cape Town with Liesl Stoltz. I taught at Sans Souci Girls’ High School for 3 and half years and have been teaching at Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre since the beginning of 2010.

I believe it is the duty of any musician (or presenter or compiler) to give back to the next generation that love that was instilled by a music-loving teacher.

I compile for Tuesday’s Classic Breakfast and Thursday’s Classical Choice between 9 and 11.
