Wesley Kotze
Wesley presents a Wednesday evening symphony concert once per month,
as well as the occasional “Great Interpreters” and “Composer of the
week”. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Mathematics from McGill University,
Montreal, and after an appointment at the University of Toronto, he
returned to S.A. After some years as Assoc.Professor in the Department of Mathematics at UCT, he became Professor and Head of the Mathematics Department (Pure and Applied) at Rhodes University until his retirement in 2003. He was also Dean of Research as well as Public Orator (4
years) for the Rhodes graduation ceremonies. During his period in
Grahamamstown, he was the Chairman of the Grahamstown Music Society
for almost twenty years. He saw to it that many touring overseas musicians held concerts in Grahamstown. For example Olga Kern gave a concert there three years before her first appearance in Cape Town.
