The ‘Pret oppie Plein’ market wil take place on Museum Plein in Paarl on Saturday March 8. Museum Plein is situated on the corner of Main and Marlherbe Street, right across from the Afrikaanse Taalmuseum. A wide variety of products will be for sale at stalls on the plein, including food and delicacies, jewellry, gifts, arts, crafts and books- too many to mention. The market is open from 09:00 until 15:00. Entrance is free. Stalls are available at R150 each. A special kids-friendly area will be created in the courtyard behind the Taalmuseum where kids can participate in various kiddies’ activities at a fee, whilst parents relax. Entertainment include live music by local artists on the front stoep of the Taalmuseum. Art exhibitions will take place in the Historic Conference Centre. Entrance to the Taalmuseum will be free and guided tours of the museum exhibitions will be offered at 11:00 and at 14:00. In the lounge visitors will be able to pose for a photo in period clothing. Printed photos will be for sale. The market is held in aid of heritage conservation and is organised by the Afrikaanse Taalmuseum and the Historium Conference Centre.
