Prof. Emeritus Michael Inggs of UCT consults locally and internationally in spaceborne radar systems, and is well placed to talk on the History of Radar in South Africa, and to bring us up to date on the current situation. The evolution of radar in South Africa was triggered in 1939 by a disclosure to the colonies by the UK Govenment; indigenous radar made an emormous contribution, locally, in the Western Desert, and even the UK itself. After a lull in the 1950s, South Africa continues to be an important, international role player in Radar technology. Come and be entertained and informed!
