Traditionally, at the end of each year, Fine Music Radio has a fundraising campaign for one organisation. This year we have shifted our focus and want to spread the love and airtime. We Say Bravo! to ten extraordinary organisations in our community.

Badisa implements and sustains programmes in the Western, Northern and Eastern Cape that provide social services and residential care to vulnerable people through 134 programmes or facilities. They do this in collaboration with communities, churches, other organisations, government, and funders.

Cape Town Opera’s CREATE projects offer Community Concerts and Arts Access programmes bringing the magic of opera to local audiences. Their programmes strive to enrich the Community, build Relationships, provide Education, expand Access and offer essential Training and Employment opportunities within the arts industry.

Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Youth Education programme was established in 2003 to provide access to music for young people aged six to 25, often from marginalised communities. It provides them with a safe after-schools alternative and enables them to master an instrument, perform in public and build their self-esteem. The CPO’s vast youth education programme is the most successful in the country and is on track to transforming South Africa’s orchestras.

Chic Mamas Do Care supports educational projects in impoverished areas. We live in a society in which 78% of 11-year-olds cannot read with meaning in any language. To break the cycle of poverty we need quality education. By donating pre-loved good quality clothing or shopping at their outlets you are supporting Chic Mamas Do Care’s many projects. Recycling clothes leads to a more sustainable planet.

Dancers Love Dogs (DLD) is dedicated to helping animals in need of sterilisation. Over-breeding is a major issue, with more puppies than available homes. Sterilisation helps prevent the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals as shelters become overcrowded. By addressing this problem, DLD aims to create a community in which every animal has a chance of a loving home.

Ladles of Love are feeding the future by focusing on supporting the education of small children at pre-schools. They provide two nutritious meals a day to feed over 6 200 children and their teachers and the results are life changing.

Lefika La Phodiso is Africa’s first organisation to offer community art counselling training. This course is now available online and aimed at people in the community, mental health practitioners, psychologists, social workers, educators and art facilitators. The free introduction is on 4 February 2025 with the course starting on 11 February 2025.

Link2Grow is a Cape Town-based volunteer organisation committed to uplifting the career potential of young women as they move from school to tertiary institutions. Each year they partner professional women with matric learners to mentor them through their final year and career choices. They also offer life skills workshops, psychometric assessments, and assistance with applications to tertiary institutions.

Soil for Life is a public benefit organisation that teaches people how to grow their own food, improve their health and well-being, and nurture and protect the environment. Regardless of the space available, every household has the potential to grow safe, nutrient-rich food for their family while also building healthy soil, saving water, and improving biodiversity.

Zama Dance School is an award-winning dance studio located in the heart of Gugulethu. Zama students and graduates have proven themselves, both on the local and international stage. However, Zama is so much more than a dance studio; for many, it is a second home. Zama is proof to every child that if they show up with an attitude of dedication, punctuality, hard work, passion, discipline, good nature and drive, they can achieve huge things and create their own destiny.
